"Alex" was born in Philadelphia,PA to John Clair Alexander and Eugenia Pearce Alexander. He attended Trinity College in Connecticut. During World War II, he served as a helicopter pilot in the Army Air Corps. Alex married Evelyn Hannah Peterson, with whom he had two children. He met his second wife, Eileen Kearn, at the U.S. Army operated General Patton Hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. After retiring from the military, Alex worked for General Dynamics/Convair Division in San Diego. He and Eileen loved their pet dogs, playing tennis or golf, and taking care of their home in La Jolla.
