Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon in the Glenwood ward chapel for Mrs. Mary Catherine Nielson, 89, who died on January 10 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. R.A. Meeks of Bicknell.

Bishop J. Elmer Sorenson conducted the services. Speakers were Mrs. J.W. Ross of Richfield, an old friend of Mrs. Nielson; James Brown of Monroe, a nephew; Christian Peterson of Richfield and Albert Oldroyd of Glenwood. The ward choir, directed by Mrs. George Peterson and accompanied by Miss Lena Peterson, sang "O My Father", "Consolation" and "Home at Last". "Going Home" was sung by Eli Lundgreen of Monroe, accompanied by Mrs. Lundgreen, and Miss Mona Lundgreen of Monroe, accompanied by Mrs. Lundgreen played a cello selection, "Lullaby". Resolutions of respect from the Glenwood ward Relief Society were read by Mrs. H.G. Sorenson.

The invocation was by R.L. Brown of Bicknell; the benediction by Reuben Meeks, bishop of the Thurber ward.

Burial was in the Richfield Cemetery. George M. Hunt of Bicknell dedicated the grave.

Pallbearers were James Nielson of Glenwood, James Brown of Monroe, Victor Hansen of Salt Lake, William weight of Springville, and two grandsons, sons of Erastus Nielson of Salt Lake.

Mrs. Nielson was born May 20, 1850, at Rods Aarthus Amt. Denmark, a daughter of Hans and Mary Kistie Pelson Nielson. In 1873 she came to Utah with her parents, having joined the LDS church. They moved to Richfield, where she met and married Hans Peter Nielsen, the marriage taking place in th4e Salt Lake Endowment House. Mrs. Nielson was active in the church, having served as president of the ward primary and as a Relief Society teacher. She was the mother of eight children. her husband and one son preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sons, Hans Nielson of Rice, Calif.; Erastus Nielson of Salt Lake and James Nielson of Glenwood; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Hansen and Mrs. Annie Olsen of Salt Lake, Mrs. Sarah Weight of Springville and Mrs. Mathilda Meeks of Bicknell; 30 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Hannah Brown of Monroe.
