Married Jennie Florence Snyder 30 March 1880.

John Durrant of Lanark, who has been in poor health for more than one year, was found dead in the barn Saturday, April 10, where he had gone from the house a short time before. Mrs. Durrant became concerned at his absence and went to look for him. He evidently had become exhausted and sank unconscious and had died soon after entering the barn as the body was only a few feet from the barn door.

Deceased was born in Nova Scotia April 1, 1847, and came to this country with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Durrant, at an early age, the family settling in Lanark, Portage County. The family later moved to Lind. In 1880 the subject of this sketch was married to Jennie Snyder and to them five children were born.

The funeral was held at Sheridan church on Tuesday, Rev. A. Worgerslade of this city officiatition, interment in Sheridan cemetery.

The death of this pioneer resident marks the passing of the last member of the Thomas Durrant family of eight sons and one daughter. The Eldest brothers of deceased, William and Charles, served in the Civil War, the former losing his life in service of his country. Thomas, James, George, Willard, and Ben and one sister Mary have passed on.

Those present at the funeral besides all the children and grandchildren were nephews, Robert of Wittenberg, Bert and Charles of Oshkosh, Frank and Kirk of Racine, and cousins of Mrs. Durrant's, Mrs. William Rice of Manawa, George Palmer and son Irving of Grand Rapids.
