Mr. Chase was working as an Artist in Farmington, Illinois when he joined the Union Army on May 2, 1864 for 100 day tour of service, and was elected the Captain of Co. D of the 132nd Illinois Infantry, and mustered into Federal Service at Camp Frye, Illinois on June 1, 1864, and discharged in Chicago, Illinois on October 17, 1864.

Awards: Civil War Medal.
