Lee Earl Childress, 63, of Meadville, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at Crawford County Care Center.

He was born Dec. 8, 1946, in Memphis, Tenn., a son of the late Arthur Lee and Dimmie Lee Harrell Childress. He married Linda L. Hammond in 1984.

He was employed as an electrician at Libby Glass, Lever Brothers, Bimbo Bakeries and Sunshine Bakeries, all in California, and subsequently retired to the Meadville area.

In his youth, he was active in scouting and was very proud of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. He loved Ham radio and stamp collecting and enjoyed history, especially the Civil War.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife, Linda, of 25 years, include a son, Sean Lee Childress of Apple Valley, Calif.; a daughter, Kimberly Savage of Erie; four grandchildren, Amanda, Hailey and Dylan Childress, and Ryan Savage; brothers and sisters including a sister, Jeanine, of Virginia; and a cousin, Joyce Jennings of Oklahoma.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Northwest Pennsylvania Chapter, 1128 State St., Suite 301, Erie, Pa. 16335.

The family would like to acknowledge with much appreciation the loving and compassionate care received from the staff of Crawford County Care Center and Asera Care Hospice.
