John Sanford McNeill, who lived northwest of Clarence, passed away after a short illness at the Furnish hospital in Shelbina, Thursday, August 12.

He was born April 8, 1898 and was the eldest son of Ben and Essie McNeill. He was married to Miss Rowena Harvey December 19, 1917, to this union four children, Elizabeth Corine, Junior, Darlene and Joan.

He is survived besides his four children, by his wife, aged father, his mother, Mrs. E. A. Heinzman, grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth McNeill, of West Point, Ill., and sister, Mrs. Nellie Simpson, of Huntington, West Va., two brothers, Charles McNeill of Hannibal and Joe McNeill of Belmont, Iowa, also a host of other relatives and friends.

With the exception of several years in Oklahoma and Texas, his life was spent in Missouri. He was always a faithful husband and father, constantly concerned about the needs of those he loved and who depended upon him.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Hagers Grove by the minister, Dannie F. Martin, of LaPlata. Burial was at Hagers Grove.
