Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brawley for Dr. Ralph J. Thompson, 79, of Brawley, who died Friday in Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley.

Bishop Keith Smith will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Dr. Thompson was born March 3, 1924, in Salt Lake City, where he was raised and graduated from the University of Utah School of Dentistry.

Dr. Thompson served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He lived and practiced dentistry in the Imperial Valley since 1971.

He married Hope Figueroa in El Centro on Aug. 18, 1973.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Chris Thompson in 2003; brothers, Albert Thompson in 2003 and Claude Thompson; and sister Lois Thompson in 2003.

Survivors include his wife, Hope Thompson of Brawley; sons, Eric Thompson of Brawley and Joe Thompson of San Diego; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Jill Thompson of Fresno and Stephen and Helen Thompson of Texas; sister, Carol Grey of Salt Lake City; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
