George married Naomi Jane Good April 22, 1944.

George was a brother of the Ohio Gamma chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at The Ohio State University.

He was reported as missing in action during a mission over the Ryukyu Islands, Pacific Theater of Operations after the P-47N (Thunderbolt) he was piloting was hit by flak. He was subsequently designated as lost/killed in action. His remains were never recovered.

George was assigned to the 19th Fighter Squadron, 318th Fighter Group, 7th Air Force, and was the 61st pilot from the 318th to make the ultimate sacrifice during WWII. His awards include the Purple Heart & Air Medal.

Contrary to information listed here & posted by sources in Ohio, the National Archives & War Department Records Administration show that George was a second lieutenant when he was killed in action.

He is remembered on Court 7 of the Courts of the Missing, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, HI, and at Brookfield Cemetery, Massillon, OH.
