Elizabeth was first married to William Campbell. After Mr. Campbell's death in 1836; Elizabeth married Rev. Archibald Whyte in 1838 and had two sons:
James Thomas Whyte: who removed to Tennessee
William Whyte: who was born Mar. 4, 1842, and was married on Dec. 5, 1867, to Margaret Frances Steele of Rock Hill, daughter of Joseph Alexander and Elizabeth Jacolina (Kirkpatrick) Steele. The only child of William and Margaret Frances (Steele) Whyte to live to maturity was a son, William Hope Whyte. He and his wife and their children ultimately lived at Hopkins, S. C., not far from Columbia.
Elizabeth Hart Campbell Whyte departed this life on May 25th 1850 at the age of 44; leaving a husband, two small boys and her mother to grieve.
