Funeral for Alfred Louis Askenburg Jr., 75, of Somerville will be Saturday, March 6, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Decatur Christian Fellowship with the Rev. John T. White officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

A graveside service with military honors will be held in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Askenburg died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at his residence. He was born June 14, 1928, in Morgan County to Alfred Louis Askenburg and Lilly V. Langley Askenburg. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Decatur Christian Fellowship.

Mr. Askenburg was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Lamae Askenburg; and one daughter, Charlene Holtzclaw.

Survivors include three daughters, Darlene McDougle and husband Jimmy of Trinity, Susan Motes and husband Steve, and Sandra Motes and husband Edwin, all of Somerville; one brother, William Donald Askenburg and wife Mary Ann of Courtland; one sister, Faye Montgomery of Town Creek; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
