Peter Nelson Tannahill was the 7th child of Robert Tannahill and Margaret Nelson and the last one born in Canada,he came to the United States with his family soon after he was born. His father and mother followed his Uncle William to Bradford, Iowa They became members of the First Congegational Church of New Hampton, later to be known as the "Little Brown Church in the Wildwood" and are listed as Charter Members of that Little Brown Church One more child was born in the family after they arrived in Iowa, his little sister, Lucy Stewart Tannahill. Theirs was a typical pioneer life on the plains until the Civil War when many men in the community went to war including his Uncle William.
