Virdie Loretta Monk was born on November 5, 1933 to Fred Seaface and Daisy Lucy (Martin) Moore. She passed away on June 14, 2013 in Tulsa at the age of 79.
Loretta grew up and attended school at Smith Chapel and Salina as a child and later moved to California with her family where she graduated from high school.
Her family later moved back to Salina where they owned the general store downtown and Loretta worked there for some time. Loretta married Ira Monk on December 16, 1967.
They made their home in Pryor until 1977 then moved back to Salina where they remained. Loretta worked as a nurse's aide at Parkhill Nursing Home in Salina for many years and retired in 1994.
Loretta loved spending time with her kids and grandkids, enjoyed crocheting in her younger years and she loved doing number puzzles.
She was a past member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Pryor and currently attended the Church of God Holiness in Salina.
She is survived by her son Carlos Monk and wife Gayla of Locust Grove; five grandchildren Curtis Leroy Monk and wife Alex of Pryor, Joe Leslie Monk of Locust Grove, Dustin Blake Monk of Pryor, Brandon Eugene monk of Pryor and Ira Henry Monk of Locust Grove and also one sister Ollie Loffer of Rose.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Curtis Leroy Monk Sr., one daughter-in-law Karen Sue Monk, one brother and three sisters.
