Gertrude Langston, 98, of Salem, Ark., daughter of the late George Asbury Billingsley and Susie Catherine Rudasill Billingsley, was born Feb. 26, 1905, in Glencoe, Ark. She died Sept. 28, 2003, at St. Frances Nursing Home in Memphis, Tenn.

She was married to Odas Langston in 1923. To this union five children were born. She was a nursing assistant and was employed by Dr. Gunthner for over 20 years. She was a member of the Salem Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughter, Billie Beard of Memphis, Tenn.; her son, Ralph Langston and wife, Peggy of Memphis, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Derwin Langston; two daughters -- Lillian Aquino and LaVonne Baker; a brother, Arch Billingsley; one sister, Blanche Cozort; and her father and mother.

Services were Oct. 2 at Cox-Blevins Chapel in Salem with David Gibson officiating. Burial wsas in the Agnos Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home.
