John Schneider Sheboygan Press April 26, 1974

A 76-year-old Sheboygan man was stricken with a fatal heart attack while driving his automobile north along County Trunk LS near the Blackstock Road Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Schneider's car crashed and burned in a farm field, the body being removed from the vehicle only moments before it burst into flames. Sheriff's deputies said it was fortunate the car veered into a field instead of into oncoming traffic. The crash was reported to the Sheboygan county Sheriff's Department by an area resident.
Witnesses told sheriff's men the vehicle was northbound on LS when it went off the east side of the roadway. Sheriff's men measured a distance of 475 feet from the road to where the auto had become stuck in a plowed field.

Mr. Schneider was born in Manitowoc County on Aug. 14, 1897, son of the late John and Katherine Schneider. On June 19, 1920, he married Lydia Knoener. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1970. Mr. Schneider was a former employe of Kohler Co. and retired in 1963. He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of DAV Chapter 15, World War I Barracks, 2091, and St. John United Church of Christ.
Survivors include his widow; a son, Ray, Sheboygan, a daughter, Mrs. LaVerne Brady, Palm Spring, Calif., and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
