Della Lavon Young, 86, of Carthage, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at LaBelle Manor Care Center, LaBelle, Mo. She was born on August 21, 1926 in Clark County, Missouri, the daughter of Ward and Della Metz Lillard. She married Kale D. Groseclose on November 30, 1940 in Stronghurst, IL. He preceded her in death. She married Robert Young on September 29, 1990 in Schyler County, Missouri. He survives in Carthage.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son: Steve (and Ann) Groseclose of Lancaster, MO; a daughter Mona Ferris of LaBelle, MO; a sister: Anna Schroder of Dallas City, IL; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, a son: Ward Groseclose, a daughter: Pat Groseclose, five brothers and four sisters.

She was raised on a family farm near Stronghurst, IL. Della had worked in restaurants in the Lancaster area and had been employed the Box Company in Fort Madison, IA. She enjoyed painting ceramic figures and cooking. She had been a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Fabius Cemetery in Missouri.

Memorials have been established in her memory.
