He was an area manager of Link-Belt Co. and FMC Corp., and retired from Detroit Ball Bearing Co,/ Invetech, as Sr. Power Transmission Specialist. Alexander was a World War II Army veteran, serving in E.T.O., with Ninth U.S. Army. He retired as a Colonel after 31 years combined active and reserve service. He was a member of Perpetuity of the Military Order of the World Wars and served as Detroit Chapter commander and Michigan State Commander. He graduated from Command and General Staff College and was a life long member of the Reserve Officer's Association, the Retired Officers Association, the Retired Officers Club of Sarasota, the Navy League, the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, the 70th Division Association, United States Army Quarter Master Museum at Fort Lee, Virginia, the National Association of Uniformed Services, and the Independent Order of Foresters. Alexander was a life long Episcopalian and member of the Church of the Redeemer in Sarasota, FL, and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Livonia, MI, and was a member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Mission, KS.
