Calvin Wardlaw McAlister Jr., son of Calvin Wardlaw McAlister and the former Miss Callie Thompson, was born in the bounds of Lonoke County, Arkansas.

Known by all as, Ward, at the age of eighteen, he enlisted in United States Navy, and served as a Fireman 2nd Class. While on deployment, Ward died at the Guam Hankow Int'l Hospital, China.
