Sophia Moeller Jessen, daughter of W. H. Moeller and Anna (Nissen) Moeller was born February 1, 1873 at Keystone and died May 24, 1952 at 1 a.m. at Spirit Lake. She was 79 years, three months and 24 days. She spent her early life at Keystone, coming to Everly at the age of 11 with her family who located on a farm
about four miles north of Everly.
Sophia Moeller was married to George Jessen May 25, 1893 at Everly. Four children were born to them. Frank, George, Lillian now deceased and Lavena
Preceding her in death were her daughter in 1927, her husband in 1951, her father, mother,
four brothers, Will, Henry, August and Herman, and two sisters. Dora Ruge and Anna Jurgens.
Survivors are Lavena Erickson of Spirit Lake, a daughter, and Frank Jessen of Everly and George Jessen, Jr. of Matwan, Minn., sons.. Two sisters, Mary Dehrkoop and Emma Goettsch, and one brother. Ott Moeller and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. There are also 11 grandchildren, 14 great
grandchildren.
Burial was at Lone Tree cemetery at K.ver1y with services from the Lutheran i church at Everly.
Harpole's funeral home, handled arrangements.
Music was provided by granddaughters. Gwen Glackin and Shirley Steffen,. accompanied by Mrs. Floriene Adrian.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Ellis and Jerry Jessen. Gordon Guenther, Donald Jessen, Francis Glackin and Kenneth Steffen.
Out-of-town people attending were Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Moeller, Minneapolis. Minn.: Mrs. Emma Goettsch, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Groves Roberts and family of Pocahontas; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Buenther, Minneapolis: and Mr. and Mrs. George Jessen and family of Matwan
