DENNIS Jack William

Jack William Dennis, age 80, of Delta, Ohio, passed away Wednesday evening, June 15, 2005, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 17, 1925, in Swanton, Ohio to Elias Charles and Ella (Grove) Dennis. He was a graduate of Fulton High School at AI. Jack was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater with the 6th Division in Korea as a member of the infantry company. On January 11, 1947, he married Anna Willson.
Jack started his career selling State Farm Insurance in Swanton, Ohio, in 1956. In 1960, he accepted the challenge of agency management over a seven county area. He and his wife then moved to Defiance, Ohio, where he built a district of quality agents, and was regarded as an early pioneer for State Farm in Ohio. Jack would return to personal production, as an agent, in 1975 when he moved to Tiffin, Ohio, retiring from State Farm July 1, 1988.
He was a member of the Swanton American Legion Post #479 and member of the Lytton Zion United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Anna; children, Janet Frederick of Toledo, OH, Joel (Linda) Dennis of Tampa, FL and Jim (Vandee) Dennis of Defiance, OH; 5 grandchildren, Margot Frederick, Kyle, Kara, Andrew and Jack Dennis.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Harley Dennis, Glen Dennis, Frances Miller, Dwight Dennis and Earl Dennis.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 19th from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419- 826-2631). Funeral services will be Monday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Lytton Zion United Church of Christ, 12910 County Road 5 in Delta. Pastor Mary Burroughs will officiate. Interment will follow at Dutch Ridge Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Swanton American Legion Post #479 Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Hospice Caring Way of Fulton and Williams County.
