Dennis Evans Burgess, Jr. age 89, of Newport, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Burgess.
He was born March 19, 1924 and was a WWII veteran having served in the United States Navy from 1942-1946.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Evans Burgess; sons, Robert Burgess of Newport, Jerry Burgess of Nashville, and Bill Burgess of Knoxville; daughter, Teresa Morris of Irving, Texas; brothers, Charles, Randall, and Mack Burgess of Gadsden, Alabama; sisters, Sue Deleshaw and Vera Langford of Gadsden, Alabama; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; also other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday July 6, 2013 at 2:00 pm in Resthaven Memorial Mausoleum. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
