The funeral of Mrs. H. C. Grout, who died at her home in New York City, will take place at 2 o'clock tomorrow (Nov 21) afternoon in this city at All Souls' church. Mrs, Grout, prior to her removal to New York twenty years ago, was very well known in this city, which was her home. She was a sister of Gen. Byron R. Pierce of the local post office, the single surviving major general of all the Michigan troops.

FORMER RESIDENT DEAD
The remains of Mrs. Amelia H. Grout will be brought to Grand Rapids for internment early in the week. Mrs. Grout died in New York. She formerly lived in Grand Rapids, having come here with her husband during the Civil war. After leaving the city Mrs. Grout returned for frequent visits. She was a sister of Gen. Byron R. Pierce.
