Mary Louise Cox Painter, 90, of Union City, Ga., passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010. She was a homemaker and loved to paint.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Finley M. Painter; son, William R. "Bill" Painter; brother, Gene Cox; sisters, Ann Rock and Betty Ellis.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary F. Akers of Fayette, Ga.; son, Jim Painter of Union City, Ga.; grandchildren, Julie Walsh and her husband Richard of Peachtree City, Ga., Lara England and her husband Duff of Meansville, Ga., Pamela Carpenter of Charleston, W.Va., Jimmy Painter of Charleston, W.Va., Billy Painter and his wife Kristine of Hurricane, WV, Debbie Crowder and her husband Carl of Charleston, W.Va., and Mary Elizabeth Lanham and her husband Percy of Dailey, W.Va.; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held in Fayetteville, Ga.

Friends and family attended a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Park, Spring Hill, W.Va., on Thursday, October 7, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ronald Stoner officiating.
