Bernard R. Morrison, 87, of Butler died Saturday morning at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born June 6, 1924, in Butler, he was a son of the late Francis "Pete" and Cecelia C. (Geibel) Morrison.
He worked for the Youngstown Steel Door Corp., which made corrugated doors for railroad boxcars, in Austintown, Ohio, for 33 years, retiring in 1983.
He had lived in Canfield, Ohio, for 40 years and moved back to Butler in March 2004.
He was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler and was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman and hunter.
Surviving are his son, William Morrison of Akron, Ohio; a grandson, Beau Morrison of Boardman, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. William (Anna) Cranmer, Frances O'Neill, Mrs. Harry (Cecelia) Jackson and Norberta Mae Duffy, all of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Body) Morrison. They were married Dec. 30, 1947, and she died June 2, 2003. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Hilda Morrison and Mary Catherine "Kay" Kienzle; and a brother, Edward Morrison.
MORRISON - There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian burial for Bernard R. Morrison, who died Saturday, July 23, 2011, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
The St. Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:35 a.m. Saturday at the church to recite the rosary.
Cremation services are provided by Geibel Funeral Home, Butler. Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
