Sarah Elizabeth was the daughter of Benjamin Allen & Naoma (Slavens)* Allen. In Shelby county, Illinois she married Eli Hawk on 4 Nov 1860.(The license states Dittman as her last name). After the birth of their first son, John Michael, they moved to Missouri where three children were born: Charles David, Dora Comfort and Holly Franklin.

Sarah, a widow, died at 11:30 a.m. basically from heart failure. Her diabetic condition had contributed to her death. She had lived 71 years and 10 months.

C.D. Hawk of Newtonia was the informant on her death certificate. She was buried the first day of 1916.
