MRS. LUTHER BLACK OF TUSCOLA DIES
Tuscola, Ill., April 26. -- Mrs. Luther J. Black, 46, wife of Douglas County Superintendent of Schools Black, died Saturday in Martinsvllle, Ind., where she had been for 10 days receiving treatment. She had been in failing health in recent months.
Mrs. Black, the former Junia Bower, was born April 15, 1891, at Hidalgo, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Bower. Following her marriage to Luther J. Black, the couple resided for about 15 years on a farm near Kemp. When Mr. Black was elected county superintendent of schools in 1930, the family moved to Tuscola.
Mrs. Black is survived by her husband and four children, Walter, who was graduated from the University of Illinois last year, Ernest, Robert and Phyllis Marie. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Byers of Tolono, and Mrs. Jennie Reisner of Mattoon. The latter cared for Mrs. Black during the last seven months at the Black home in Tuscola. The funeral was conducted at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Christian church in Tuscola. Burial was in the cemetery at Arcola.
