Gail Binkley Carruth Gail Binkley Carruth, age 72, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Seton Medical Center in Austin following a lengthy illness. Gail was born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 18, 1941. Gail was previously employed as an airline stewardess, bank teller and legal secretary, but she became a full-time mother and homemaker while raising her son, Shane. Gail was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and Ladies Oriental Shrine, both of which support the Shriners Hospital for Children. Gail was predeceased by her father, William Alexander Binkley, Jr. and her mother, Berwyn Jervis Binkley. She is survived by her loving husband of over 48 years, Gerald "Jerry" Carruth; her son, Shane Carruth and her granddaughter, Emilee Carruth, all of Austin, as well as her sisters, Beverly Simpson and husband, Dennis of North Carolina and Jan Binkley of South Carolina; and her brother, William Binkley III of Florida. Her family wishes to acknowledge the medical staff at Seton Medical Center ICU "A" for their excellent medical care and valiant efforts to prolong Gail's life during her hospitalization. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Graveside services for Gail are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 10, 2013 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park located at 6300 W. William Cannon Drive with Reverend Don Long to officiate. In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorial contributions be made in memory of Gail to the Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o Ben Hur Shriners, 7811 Rockwood Lane, Austin, Texas 78757or to your favorite charity.
