Blanchard, LA.-Services for Mr. George Percy Ashley Sr., 57, of Blanchard, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday Jan. 19, at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel. Father Daniel Wash, chaplain of Schumpert Medical Center, will officiate, assisted by father Norman Buvens, pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church, and the Rev. Joe Morell, chaplain of the Shreveport Fire Department.

Rosary; 7 p.m. Sunday Jan. 18 at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel.

Mr. Ashley died Friday Jan. 16, 1987, at Schumpert Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born in Pioneer, La. and had been a resident of the Shreveport area since 1948. Mr. Ashley was employed on the Shreveport Fire Department on December 3, 1954, promoted to driver on November 1, 1961, to Captain on May 16, 1972 and to District Chief on July 1, 1982. He was Fireman of the Year in 1970. Mr. Ashley was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, the 40&8 Club and Lowe-McFarlane American Legion Post No. 14. He Was a U.S. Army veteran of World War ll.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty Ashley of Shreveport; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Percy and Brenda Ashley, Jr., Gregory Dwayne Ashley of Bossier City and William Desmond Ashley of Blanchard; two sisters; Mrs. Jewell Ashley Phillips of Baton Rouge, La. and Mrs. Ida Mae Cockerham of Bossier City. La., his mother-in-law Mrs. Winnie White Whitney of Shreveport; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Joe D. Sepulvado of Zwolle, La. and a host of nieces , nephews, relatives and friends.

pallbearers will be Joe Lawler, David Hall, Gerald Lewing, Bill Thompson, Terrell Neal, Jack Allen Jr., Nolan C. Smith and Charles Scarbrough.

Honorary pallbearers; Chief Dallas Green and members of the Shreveport Fire Department.

Family suggest memorial be made to the American Cancer Society.
