Name on headstone: Saladial Herod
However, the correct spelling of his first name is Salathiel. I am unsure how he spelled his last name. Last name has appeared as Herrod/Herod/Harrod. Most of his siblings use the Herrod spelling.

Last name spelled as Herod on tombstone, but Herrod in obituary.

Salathiel married Mary E. Lisby on 16 November 1882 in Grundy County, Missouri. They had one daughter, Helen Herrod. After her father's death, Helen lived with her mother's sister, Sarah Jane (Lisby) Layson.

Buried near the Levi Lightcap family plot (Levi's son, George Lightcap, was married to Salathiel's sister, Rhoda Ellen Herrod).

Obituary:

Salathiel Herrod was born January 15th, 1844 and died Friday morning, age 56 years, 7 months and 2 days. He enlisted with George Lightcap in Co. K, 12 Indiana cavalry, and since the war had spent most of his life in Missouri. Last winter he returned to North Judson and since then had made his home with his sisters, Mrs. George Lightcap and Mrs. Barge. His death occurred at the home of the latter, after a prolonged illness from an ailment akin to paralysis. The funeral was held Saturday evening at 4:30 form the Brethren church, conducted by Rev Snyder. Old soldiers acted as pallbearers, and the remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery. Deceased had been a widower fifteen years. He leaves a daughter 16 years of age and a sister [sic, brother] in Missouri, besides the relatives previously mentioned.
