Helen Marie Marietta 86, of Pittsburg, KS died 7:47pm Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg following a fall.

Helen was born June 12, 1926 in Kirkwood, KS the daughter of Jesse D. and Jessie M. (Mercer) Calloway. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Cherokee High School.

She later married Johnnie Marietta and shared many years together operating Lone Star General Store and many other businesses.

Johnnie preceded Helen in death on July 31, 2000. Helen was known as the Matriarch of Jake's Fireworks in Pittsburg, KS.

Helen was a member of the Our Lady of
Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg; was a member of Circus Fans of America, Heart of Heartlands Railroad Club and the Circus Historical Society; and will be most remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her children Juanita McDermed and husband Marty of Sanger, TX, John Marietta, Jr. and wife Pamela of Pittsburg, KS, the late Roberta Marietta and Michael ‘Jake' Marietta and wife Beverly of Pittsburg, KS; grandchildren Jeremy McDermed, Justin McDermed and wife Julie, Jason Marietta and wife Crystal, Michael Marietta and wife
Jenelle, Jacob Marietta and wife Aubrey and Anna Marie Marietta and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings George Calloway, Lillian Melton, Pearl Endicott and Basil J. Mercer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, KS with Fr. Chad Arnold as celebrant.

Burial will follow at the Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, KS.

Rosary will be recited at 7pm Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS; family will receive friends following the rosary. Friends may call the funeral home after 2pm Friday.

In lieu of flowers the family ask expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg, KS 66762. E-mail condolences may be left at www.
