MRS. LUCY LEE BARKER OF ROOPVILLE PASSES
Funeral rites for Mrs. George Barker, age 72, who died Wednesday night at her home in Roopville, Route 1, after a long illness, were held Friday at 12 o'clock noon from Antioch church in Heard County. Rev. Herman Caldwell officiated and pallbearers were Helton Barker, Ford Barker, Troy Barker, Darsey Jones, Danie Thornton and Henry Fawlik.
Interment was in the church cemetery. The former Miss Lucy Lee Heard, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Heard, Mrs. Barker was born in Heard County on June 4, 1870 and had lived here until about four years ago, when she and her husband moved to Carroll County.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Grover C. Barker of Anniston, Ala; a foster daughter, Mrs. Jessie Jones of Dawson, Ala; nine grandchildren; a brother Buddy Heard of Fiodada, Texas and a sister Mrs. Belle Davis of Thomaston, GA.
