Age 76, passed away peacefully on June 6th, 2013. He was born in Austin, MN to the late Harold and Alta Brooks. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Toni; grandson, Thomas Joseph and step-sisters Constance and Patricia.

Tom proudly served his country in the Korean War with the 10th Mountain Division, 2nd Armored Division "Hell on Wheels". He was a 45 year member of the Elsmere Fire Company, holding both administrative and fire line positions. Additionally, he was a 35 year member of the Cranston Heights Fire Company, where he also held administrative and fire line positions, including two years as President. He also served with the New Castle County Fire Police with both companies. He proudly helped to refurbish the Cranston Heights Fire Companies' award winning 1931 American LaFrance Antique Fire Engine. He was a member of the Shamrock Judges Association and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Tom enjoyed traveling, camping, swimming, barbeques with family and friends, trips to Delaware Park and daily visits to the firehouses to help solve problems at the "round table."

He is survived by his children, Connie Lawson, Doreen Parisi, Vickie Smith (Jerry) and Thomas A. Brooks, Jr. (Claudia); sisters, Joyce Merkley and Marilyn Josephs both of Minnesota ; grandchildren, Gary, Ashley, Tessa, Candido, Alexis, Gianna, Marcus, Haley and Dante. Also left to cherish his memory is his fiancée, Mickey Decino and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at Christiana Care for the compassionate care provided to Tom during his illness.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday June 12th at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 am on Thursday June 13th. Burial will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear with full fire and military honors.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in Tom's memory to the Seasons Hospice, 1212 Foulk Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.
