MELBOURNE BEACH, FL - Lady Eleanor Baird Kristensen died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She attended Park Tudor School and Wellesley College before moving to Brevard in 1956, from Lafayette, IN.

[Her first husband was Arthur Lee Milford whom she married on June 16, 1951 (re Lafayette Journal & Courier Newspaper Index).]

Shortly after moving to the area, Eleanor became active in the local community. She was generous in her contributions and support of numerous local charities. Eleanor served on the board of the Brevard Art Museum, the Developmental Council for Holmes Regional Hospital, the Brevard Symphony Advisory Board, the Developmental Council for Circles of Care and Holmes Regional Hospice.

As a firm believer that you should support the community that you live in, she created the Eleanor B. Kristensen Foundation. Grants from her Foundation have supported the United Way of Brevard, Space Coast Science Center, Brevard Symphony and Junior Symphony, the Brevard Art Museum, and the Brevard Library Foundation. In addition to gifts from the Foundation, Lady Kristensen supported scholarships for Culvur Academies and contributed to the Eleanor Baird Library at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy.

She is survived by her four children, Arthur B. Milford of Melbourne Beach, Cynthia Milford Barron of Atlanta, GA, Eleanor Milford Linscott of Lake James, NC, and Melissa L. Milford of Atlanta, GA; a stepson, Axel Kristensen of Santa Clara, CA; and a granddaughter, Brittany R. Barron of Atlanta, GA.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at 2 PM at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church; Brownie Maxwell is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Eleanor B. Kristensen Foundation.
