Mrs. Virginia Clifton Upright passed away at 11:25 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2012. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Hart's at the Cupola, 6324 Peake Road, on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 4:30 PM, with Dr. David Hunter officiating.
The family will greet friends immediately after the service. Subsequently, her remains will be taken to St. Luke's Church Cemetery, Mt. Ulla, North Carolina for interment. A brief graveside service will be held. A lover of nature, especially animals, Virginia would like donations in lieu of flowers sent to All About Animals, 101 Riverside Drive, Macon, Georgia, 31204.
Mrs. Upright was born March 31, 1923 in Bibb County. She was the daughter of the late William McKinley Clifton and Winnie Davis Clifton of Macon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Edward Leonard Upright, her dog, Cricket, and sisters, Dorothy McGaughey of Rome, Georgia, Willene Newberry of Macon, and Winifred McGee of Charlotte, North Carolina.
She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She retired from Robins Air force Base in 1978. Virginia was passionate about fashion, loved dining out, traveling, visiting her siblings, cooking and sewing. She fed and cared for any stray animal that came in her path and loved them as much as her own precious pets.
