Betty Lu (Brock) Shields was born October 30, 1949 in Huntington Park, California to her parents, Ross and Prudence Pauline (Smoot) Brock, who preceded her in death. Betty Shields passed away Tuesday, May 28, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Whittier, California.
She grew up in the Bell, California area, graduating from high school there. Betty was united in marriage to Donald Carroll Shields, and they enjoyed a wonderful life together. Don will always cherish his memories of the good times they had while performing as clowns, at which Betty was very accomplished. She was a wonderful homemaker for her family, who will greatly miss her.
Betty and Donald moved to the Whitehorn Cove area near Wagoner, Oklahoma in 1999. She enjoyed traveling, and shopping for and collecting antiques. Betty so much valued the relationships she fostered through her pastime as a clown in the Christian Clowns Organization.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Don, of the home; two sons, daughter-in-law; a granddaughter; two daughters; a sister and her husband; other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Betty Lu Shields, 63, of Wagoner will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 7, 2013 in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma. A Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday evening at Mallett Funeral Home, who is in charge of arrangements.
