Edward LeRoy Brown, 89, of Sioux City died suddenly Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at a Sioux City.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Gunderson officiating. The body was cremated. Burial will be at a later date in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Brown was born July 1, 1918, in Alcester, S.D., the son of Homer and Ruth (Woodcock) Brown. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Audrey Whittig on Jan. 28, 1950. She passed away July 12, 1983. He later married Thelma Henline in 1987. He worked as a butcher for a local market for many years. He also worked part-time at Johnson Hardware, mowing lawns and other part-time jobs.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1973. He enjoyed gardening and being outside.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Brown of Sioux City; two daughters, Kelly (Fred) Wiedenmann of Atlanta, Ga., and Lynn (Earl) Kyle of St. Cloud, Minn.; two stepdaughters, Alice (Jim) Johnson of Sioux City and Nancy Borrink of Sheldon, Iowa; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Barr of Judith Gap, Mont., and Lulabelle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; two brothers; a sister; and a stepdaughter.
