Otto B. Bergman was born in Hildesheim, Germany in 1888 and emigrated to New York in 1908 at age 20 from the port of Bremen, Germany. Otto arrived in the port of New York on Aug 11, 1908 on board the SS Grosser Kurfurst from Bremen, Germany.
In March 1938 in Spokane, WA, Otto Bergman and 4 other RR employees founded the Consumer's Coop Service in Parkwater to assist members to affordably purchase gas, oil & auto parts on a cooperative basis. (3/24/1938 issue of Spokane Chronicle newspaper )
