Betty Wright 1919-2003

CLINTON – Elizabeth "Betty" Faulkingham Wright, 84, of Clinton died peacefully

surrounded by her loving family on Dec. 29, 2003. She was born on Aug. 26,

1919, at Beals Island, a daughter of William and Lena (Merchant) Faulkingham.

She graduated from Pembroke High School in 1937 and from the nursing program at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor in 1941. She married Samuel Wright Jr. on June 7 that same year. After living in several states, the Wrights finally settled in Clinton in 1956 to operate the Wright Place Farm and raise their family.

Betty ran the poultry portion of the farm for several years. She was also the bookkeeper of the entire operation until she retired.

She was a lifetime member of the Fireside Chapter 103 Order of Eastern Star in Clinton, where she was a worthy past matron. She was an avid beano player and enjoyed camping. Her one true love was her family. 'She was very active in their lives.

She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Samuel Wright Jr.; and her son, Thomas R. Wright She had four broth­ers, Ronald, John, Grover, and Albert Faulkingham. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Bard and her husband, Val, of

Fairfield Center; three sons, Samuel Wright III and his wife, Nancy, of Clinton, William H. Wright and his wife, Paulette, of Detroit and Raymond M. Wright and his wife, Sonya, of Clinton; and her daughter-in-law Belinda Stoughton and her husband, John of Clinton. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Brian, Stephen, Samantha, Bethany, Shonne, Thomas Jr. and Stacey Wright, Katrina Bickford, Scott and Michell Thompson and Amy Rogers. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren,

Tashia, Chelsea, Caleigh, and Dylon Wright, Monique, Briannah and Thomas Bickford. Betty will be fondly remembered by her loving caregivers Tracey and Becky Chartrand, Susan Miller, Charlene Taylor, Colleen Landry and Lynette Poirier.

A memorial service will be celebrated 1 p.m.. on Friday, at the Brown Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nancy DePoe officiating. Fire­side Chapter 103 Eastern Star will perform a ceremony. A celebration of her life will follow the service at the church vestry where all are invited to attend. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Clinton Ambulance Service at the Clinton Fire Station, Church Street, in

Clinton or to the Brown Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 58 Clinton ME 04927.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Lawry Brothers, Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield.
