Youngest child of Samuel Parnell and Mary Gamble. Matilda married John Bell, oldest son of William Bell and Janet Whitson of Morebattle, Roxburgh, Scotland. The senior Bells immigrated to Galt, ON, Canada in 1855 where John and Matilda along with sons William and Samuel joined them in 1871.
