Lt. Adams remains were recovered 6 October 1993, identified on 17 March 2005, and returned to the family in Willits, California. They were scattered on the family property at Emandal Farm, the Adams family ranch. His parents, Clive and Jessie Adams, never learned of his fate, as they had passed in 1986 and 1995 respectively.

A graduate of the USAF Academy in Colorado in 1963, 1st Lt. Lee "Larry" Adams served in combat operations out of Takhli RTAFB, Thailand while serving with the 333rd Tactical FIghter Squadron, 355th Tactical Fighter WIng.

On 19 April 1966, he was flying a bombing mission in an F-105D over Quang Binh Province, North Vietnam, about 20 miles southwest of the city of Quang Khe.

His aircraft was observed to crash with no ejection seen and no emergency beeper signals heard.

He was listed as MIA until his remains were discovered, identified, and returned to his family in Willits, California in 2005.

According to the news in the Santa Rosa Press Democrat in California, Larry's cremated remains were brought to the Adams Family ranch in Willits to be scattered there with those of his parents. The headline appeared May 29, 2005
