Mrs. Hester L. Shortt, 76, died late Friday at her home, 3020 W. 10th. She had been admitted to a Topeka hospital last April 29 following an apparent cerebral hemorrhage and was released later.
Mrs. Shortt was born May 4, 1896 at Auburn. She had lived in Scranton and Carbondale before she moved to Topeka in 1918. She was graduated from Carbondale High School in 1916. She had taught at Coldwater, Kan., and at East Indianola Elementary School north of Topeka. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, and Beulah Chapter No. 34, Order of Eastern Star.
She was married to Frank N. Shortt Nov. 27, 1920. He survives. Other survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Patricia Perkins and Mrs. Barbara Lynn, both of Topeka; and 3 grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
