Nettie Stikeleather STATESVILLE Nettie Kathryn Stikeleather, 88, of 128 Farm House Rd., Statesville, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, at Iredell Memorial Hospital Statesville, after an extended illness. She was born, March 24, 1925, in Iredell County, to the late Walter Hager and Flora Mercy Jenkins Hager (1900-1984). She was a graduate of Central High School in 1943. She was a cafeteria worker at Central School, a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting. She was also a charter member of Yadkin Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, William "Bill" Hager; and one sister, Melinda Hager Robertson. She is survived by her husband, Ben Stikeleather, of the home, who she had been married to for 70 years, since May 1, 1943; two daughters, Elaine London and Kathy Lindley and husband, John; two sons, David Stikeleather and Paul Stikeleather and wife, Lisa; one brother, Frank Hager and wife, Deleta; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to your favorite charity . A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday, May 21), at Yadkin Baptist Church. The Revs. J. B. Parker and Tony Bunton will officiate. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
