Jesse Kent
Jesse A. Kent, 73, died Thursday, May 30 at 2:30 p.m. at his home in Bolivar, Mo., following a long illness.
Mr. Kent was a native of Centralia, Kansas.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Bolivar, Mo. He began working for Burgner-Bowman-Matthews Lbr. Co. in Centralia, Kansas in 1925 and was in the lumber business for 46 years. He was a member of the "Over Forty Plus" club of the Southwestern Lumberman's Association. He was a member of the Bolivar Osage Lodge No. 61 and was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his wife, Florence (Nightingale) Kent, Bolivar, Mo.; a son, Eugene, Bolivar; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Toelle, Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Helen Rice, Columbia, Mo.; four sisters, Mrs. Karl Ozias, Centralia, Mrs. Merrill Root and Mrs. Robert Verbeck, both of Westerville, Ohio, and Mrs. Zina Starr, Peoria, Ill.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Friday, May 31, in Bolivar, Mo., with graveside services at Centralia cemetery, 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, with Rev. Robert Williams officiating.
Pallbearers were Dave Ayers, Charles Barrett, Duane Ice, Elza Lockhard, Byron Nightingale and Rex Nightingale.
