Cecil Earnest Hopkins, 86 year old Montague resident, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Madrone Hospice House in Yreka.
Cecil was born February 23, 1925 in Arkansas to William and Bertha Hopkins. He moved to Siskiyou County some 25 years ago from Oregon. He was an avid baseball fan and the Giants were his favorite team to watch. He liked fishing but his true passion was driving truck. He drove long haul truck for at least 50 years, including during his service to our country in the U.S. Army in 1947 and 1948. Even after DMV took away his driver's license, Cecil still longed for another chance to drive truck.
Cecil is survived by four children, Carolyn Warren, Bobby Hopkins, Cecil "Junior" Hopkins and Andy Hopkins; a brother, Alton Hopkins; a sister, Maureen Hopkins and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
