The Los Angeles Herald published Oct 23, 1892-"Near Grayson, Ky., Sylvester Adams was shot and instantly killed, and his nephew, Oscar Adams, seriously wounded, by J. D. Bennett. The trouble was over right of way, and Adams and his nephew were beating Bennett with clubs when he was shot."
---
According to the 1850 Carter Co., KY Federal Census, Sylvester Adams can be assumed to be a son of Pleasant Adams, whether or not Eleanor is a 2nd wife or a daughter I do not know. Her name is below his on the tombstone but there is no death date.
----
He was also a Civil War Union soldier who started with Co. I, 22nd KY Infantry and then transferred to Co. C., 7th KY Infantry.
