The San Juan Prospector, February 2, 1907

The many friends of Mrs. Thos. M. Bowen, in Del Norte were grieved to learn of her serious illness last Tuesday evening, when Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Ellitot were called to Pueblo, and Thursday (they) were again saddened by a telegram from Mr. Elliott, to Mrs. George D. NIckel, announcing her death at 6:30 that morning.

Grief over the death of her husband, which occurred just a month ago, and Bright's disease are given as the cause of her death.

Margarita Thurston Bowen was born at Van Buren, Ark. in 1830 and was 68 years old at the time of her death. The Thurston family was one of the prominent ones of Arkansas, both financially and socially and Mrs. Bowen's mother came from the famous Walker family of Kentucky and Missouri.

Mr. and Mrs. Bowen were married in 1865 and a large part of their married life was spent in Del Norte and Pueblo, Colorado. After the senator's death, Mrs. Bowen felt that she was all alone in the world, as none of her near relatives were living, and she seemed to let go of her hold on life and welcome death.

The funeral will be held from the Bowen home in Pueblo, tomorrow (Saturday) at 2 o'clock p.m.
