She was born Dec. 15, 1918, in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Neil M.
and Lura L. Wilson Russell. She had been bookkeeper of the former local
Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, was a member of the George Street Church
of Christ, and had been an avid bowler.
She is survived by two grandsons, J. Stephen Simonton and his wife, Lisa
of Tampa, Fla., and Wm. Scott Simonton of St. Marys; four great
grandchildren, Jeffrey, Amanda, Danielle and Michael; two brothers, John
R. "Bob" Russell and Neil M. Russell Jr., both of Parkersburg; one
son-in-law, Larry G. Gainer of St. Marys; and several nieces, nephews,
great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Frank Lee Pickens; one daughter, Margaret Simonton Gainer; one
son-in-law, William Kent Simonton; one granddaughter, Leigh Ann
Simonton; three sisters, Virginia Browning, Jean Carr and Georgia
Robinson; and one brother, Beryl Russell.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at the
Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, with Pastor John Strimer
officiating. Burial will be in the St. Marys IOOF Cemetery. Calling
hours are from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
