Francois is how his name is spelled on the New York Passenger List, 1820-1957. His parents brought him to the New York harbor, from Port LeHavre, France on the ship Danube. Their arrival to the states was on April 24, 1851, with the destination being Iowa.

Francis Gudith ~ Survived three years of the American Civil War. Along with his father, they enlisted in Trenton, Wayne County, Michigan on November 12, 1862, Company D, Ninth Cavalry Regiment on January 22, 1863. Mustered out on July 21, 1865 at Lexington, N.C.

Francis married Louisa Archambeau.
