MEADE, Ida A.
Born in Sacramento, CA., February 20, 1918, died at home on Saturday, May 25. Predeceased by her husband, John W. Meade and her son, John W. Meade III, she is survived by her daughter, Margaret Meade Jackson and her husband, Steven Jackson, her son Richard Meade and his wife Tricia Travers, her daughter-in-law Caren Daniels Meade, her grandchildren, Meghan Meade and Bryce Meade, and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ida, daughter of Eduardo and Ricardina Maria, lived most of her life in Sacramento and attended Sacramento High School. She married John in 1946 and celebrated her 65th anniversary with him in 2011. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and matriarch of a large extended family. Ida was a regular attendee at St. Elizabeth's Church and active in its social club, as well as local Portuguese organizations. An accomplished golfer, she played at Mather Air Force Base, Pease Air Force Base, and most recently at Valley High Country Club. She also served as a volunteer nurse at Mather and Pease for over 35 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation Friday, May 31, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at George L. Klumpp Chapel of Flowers, 2691 Riverside Boulevard in Sacramento. A funeral mass will be held at St. Elizabeth's church, 1817 12th Street, Sacramento, on Saturday, June 1 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the American Red Cross, 2025 E. Street, NW, Washington, DC 20006 or to the charity of your choice .
