1931 - 2013

Flemming Vedsted Pedersen passed away on May 25, 2013 at the age of 81 of brain cancer. He was born on October 16, 1931, in Aarhus, Denmark to Arnold and Ingrid (Olesen) Pedersen. He was raised in Denmark where he served in the Coast Guard. In 1957, he immigrated to Canada and met his future wife, Bente Trampedach Sorensen, in Edmonton, Alberta. They moved to the United States and were married on April 2, 1965, in Redding, California. He worked as a millwright for Kimberly Clark in Andersen, California, from 1965-69, and later moved to Oregon and worked for American Can/James River Corp. until his retirement in 1997.

Flemming was a life member of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Junction City and Eugene Danish Brotherhood Lodges, and a member of the Cascade Family Flyfishers. He was an avid flyfisherman and loved bird hunting and camping. He always looked forward to his yearly hunting trip to Summer Lake with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Bente, his daughters and their spouses, Susie and Danny Staats and Judy and Bob Panteleeff, his grandchildren Amber (Benji) Nelson, Sara Staats, Miranda Biswell and Nathan Biswell, great-granddaughter Avery Nelson, his brothers Ole (Ellinor), Thorkild (Esther), Henrik, Claus (Bente) and Jesper (Lisbeth) and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 4th at 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church in Junction City. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Cascade Health Solutions Hospice Care, Junction City Fire Department or Faith Lutheran Church.
