WILLIAM SCHULTZ

William Schultz, in his 87th year,, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday at he home of his son, Henry, in Fairmont township. Though bedfast for three years and blind for two, he retained his mental faculties until the end, speaking kindly and intelligently to his attendants a few minutes before he breathed his last.

William Schultz was born in Provenz, Germany, June 10, 1834. He came to America in 1850 and settled at Black Wolf, Wis. During the Civil War he made a trip to Kansas and enlisted there in Co. B, 9th Kansas Cavalry, serving until the end of the war when he returned to Wisconsin.

38 years ago Mr. Schultz brought his family to Mankato, where he resided on a farm until his retirement 8 years ago. He then came to Fairmont to live with his son, Henry, who has given him tender care during the years of his helplessness.

Mr. Schultz' wife departed this life four years ago. Six children survive: Mrs. Lizzie Mathews, Aberdeen, S.D., Mrs. Augusta Zemple, Wheaton, Minn., Mrs. Bertha Head, Saskatchewan, Mrs. Ida Faust, St. Cloud, William, Fargo, N.D., and Henry of Fairmont township.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon. Services will be at the home on the Wagner farm in Fairmont township at 1:00 p.m. and at the German Lutheran Church in Fairmont at 2:00 p.m.
